Should Airlines Standardize Seat Dimensions to Avoid Flyer Rage?

I have just read an interesting article by a writer that I follow and enjoy, Christopher Elliott, consumer advocate and editor for National Geographic Traveler. I’ve actually met Christopher and was interviewed by him many years ago. He wrote a very compelling article about ever-shrinking airline seats and their possible contribution to “flyer rage” incidents that have been all over the media.    I...

Ebola - When Fiction Becomes Reality

How many of you saw the movie Contagion? I did on a long-haul international flight, and became OCD in the middle of my flight! Given what’s happening today with the Ebola virus making it out of Liberia to the U.S., it immediately brought to mind thoughts of how plausible and real the premise of the movie Contagion had been.    Sure we’ve all been made aware that the Ebola virus is not easily...

2014 Salary Survey: Meetings & Conventions

Despite being listed as one of the most stressful jobs in the world and heralded as one of the fastest growing areas of employment, meeting/event planners are still underpaid in comparison with comparably stressful jobs. Disruptive Technologies and Change - Friend or Foe?

I've  just read a great article in PCMA’s Convene publication about the effect and impact that Airbnb is having in our industry as the disruptor du jour.  We've all witnessed and experienced the impact that disruptive technologies and changes have had in our industry, as well as others.  In some cases, that disruption has caused obsolescence of business models like analog vs. digital music and...
